President Jokowi Inspects Trade at Sentul Market

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Sunday (01/08) morning inspected trade and checked commodities’ prices at Sentul market, Yogyakarta city, Yogyakarta Special Region province.

After the inspection, President Jokowi said that prices of basic commodities at the market is relatively stable.

“Only the price of rice that is increasing, but I will check it again in February because next month we begin to harvest rice,” the President said.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also talked to some sellers asking about prices of commodities at the market.

Oka, one of basic commodities sellers said that the rice’s price has increased. “The rice’s price keeps increasing. It has increased to Rp200. Now it increases to Rp500,” Oka said.

Although the rice’s price has increased, President Jokowi expressed hope that stability of basic commodities’ prices can be maintained at other markets in Indonesia.

“We hope that stability of prices at the markets does not only occur in Yogyakarta, but in other provinces as well,” he said.

The President also expressed hope that the trade can continue to grow after the Government lifted social restriction.

“That is what we hope for, considering that the social restriction has been lifted a week or two weeks before. I think the result will show in February,” he remarked. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of Presidential Secretariat/AIT)(AW/EP)
