President Jokowi Inspects Vaccination Drive in Cilacap, C. Java

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, on Thursday (23/09), inspected vaccination drive at state senior high school SMAN 2 Cilacap regency, Central Java province.

“Today we are attending a mass vaccination for students carried out by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN),” President Jokowi said.

As many as approximately 3,500 high school students throughout Cilacap regency will receive the first dose of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine in the event. In the meantime, the President also inspected vaccination drive for students which was also carried out in ten other provinces with a target of 107,000 students via video conference.

President Jokowi expressed hope that after getting vaccinated, students can participate in limited in-person learning (PTM).

“Even though it is merely the first jab and it takes 2 to 4 weeks to receive the second jab, however, if your city/regency is at level 3 public activity restriction (PPKM), please do attend in-person learning by implementing strict health protocols, especially wearing masks,” the President said.

In addition, President Jokowi emphasized that the Government will continue to strive to vaccinate all Indonesian people.

“It is our goal to get all the citizens vaccinated, be it the father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, brother, sister, or student. As you may be aware, every country is currently trying hard to secure vaccine supply,” the President added.

On the occasion, the President also had a dialogue with the participants at SMAN 2 Cilacap through a question-and-answer session on COVID-19 health protocol. One student even received a bicycle from President Jokowi after reading a poem. (TGH/UN) (GWH/MUR)
