President Jokowi Installs New Anti-Narcotics Agency Head, Peatland Restoration Agency

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday (23/12) at the State Palace, Jakarta installed Insp. Gen. Petrus R. Golose as the new Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and Hartono Prawiraatmadja as the new Head of the Peatland and Mangrove Restoration Agency (BRG).

Insp. Gen. Petrus R. Golose was former Bali Police Chief, while Hartono Prawiraatmadja formerly served as Secretary to Head of the Peatland and Mangrove Restoration Agency.

The inauguration took place after the swearing-in ceremony of new ministers and deputy ministers of Indonesian Onward Cabinet for the remainder of the 2019-2024 term.

The appointment of the new BNN Head is based on Decree of President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 203/TPA of 2020 on Dismissal and Appointment of High-ranking Officials in the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).

The decree, which was recited by Secretary to Minister of State Secretary, Setya Utama, shall take into effect as of the date of its stipulation on 23 December 2020.

Meanwhile, the appointment of Head of the Peatland and Mangrove Restoration Agency is based on Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 78/M of 2020 dated 23 December 2020 on Appointment of Head of the Peatland and Mangrove Restoration Agency.

For the record, head of agency will receive equal salary and other facilities as minister.

After the reciting of the Presidential Decree, President Jokowi led the swearing-in ceremony of the new agency heads.

“I will uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and execute all laws and regulations in fairest way possible for my dedication to the nation and the people. That in carrying out the obligations, I will uphold work ethic, work earnestly with responsibility. I will preserve my integrity, will not abuse my power, and will avoid misdemeanor,” reads the oath.

Afterwards, the newly-inaugurated officials received congratulations from the President and the Vice President. (FID/UN) (RAS/LW)
