President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday (12/2) has officially inaugurated Vice Adm. Aan Kurnia as the new chief of the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) at the State Palace, Central Jakarta.

The inauguration ceremony was begun with reverberation of the national anthem “Indonesia Raya”. Afterwards, Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Administrative Affairs Farid Utomo recited Presidential Decree Number 17/TPA 2020 on the dismissal and appointment of the senior high position in the Maritime Security Agency, stipulated in Jakarta, on 23 January 2020.

The Presidential Decree stated that President Jokowi appointed the Vice Adm. Aan Kurnia as the new Chief of Bakamla as of the date of inauguration and is given structural echelon 1/a allowances in accordance with provisions of laws and regulations.

Ann Kurnia then recited the oath of office before President Jokowi and other guests and signed the minutes of oath.

After ceremony finished, President Jokowi and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin congratulated the new Chief of Bakamla.

Also attending the inauguration ceremony were the fifth President Megawati Soekarnoputri, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Mahfud MD, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung. (FID / EN)
