President Jokowi Instructs BNPB to Visit Mentawai Islands after Earthquake

During his working visit to three provinces in Sumatra, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo who was in North Sumatra Province, on Wednesday (2/3) evening, received a report regarding a 7.8 magnitude earthquake located 682 km northwest of Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra.

At the same time, President Jokowi instructed the Head of National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) to visit the location and take several countermeasures.

Until now, the President is still monitoring the development of the real condition.

President Jokowi also relayed a message to the people in Mentawai Islands and West Sumatra to remain alert of the possibility of aftershocks. (TKP/SLN) (RAS/MMB/YM/Naster)
