President Jokowi Instructs Chief of Police and Commander of Defense Forces to Maintain Security during Ramadan

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has instructed Chief of Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) cooperated with Commander of Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and Chief of Indonesian State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to continuously maintain security, control security, and put forward brotherhood and social harmony spirit.

“Because soon we will observe fasting, so that Muslim feel secure and peace in performing the observance,” President Jokowi said in his opening of a Plenary Cabinet Meeting on Preparation of the Launching of Online Single Submission (OSS) at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (16/5) afternoon.

The President also reminded all ministers and head of institutions the importance to disseminate news to the world that Indonesia is secure and we are working as usual.

As it has been reported, a couple days ago, apparatus of Polri in cooperation with TNI has countered terrorist attacks.The attacks were begun with a riot at Kelapa Dua Branch of Salemba Detention Center Depok, quelled on Thursday (10/5) morning, then suicide bombing at three churches in Surabaya on Sunday (13/5) and Monday (14/5), and on Wednesday (16/5) an attack at Riau Police Headquarter, in Pekanbaru.
