Following the decision of the International Association of Football Federations (FIFA) to remove Indonesia as the host of the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (03/31) told Chief of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) two points of note at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

According to the PSSI Chief, the two points are as follows:

Firstly, the PSSI must immediately create blueprint for the Indonesian football transformation.

“President Jokowi underscored that it must be done and be reported to the FIFA,” Erick said.

Secondly, the PSSI must keep opening room for discussion with the FIFA so that Indonesia remains a part of the FIFA family and not isolated from the world football ecosystem.

“I will work hard to hold more negotiations with the FIFA in order to avoid sanctions for Indonesian football,” he added.

Furthermore, Erick went on to say that he will accept invitation from the FIFA once it is extended after FIFA Council holds a meeting on current issue related the Indonesian football. (FID/UN) (AP/RAS/HD)
