President Jokowi Instructs Security Authorities to Investigate Attack on Wiranto

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has instructed Chief of the Indonesian National Police and Head of National Intelligence Agency (BIN), with support from the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), to investigate the attack on Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto at the Menes Square in Pandeglang, Banten, Thursday (10/10).

“The most important thing is that this (terror) network must be chased,” President Jokowi told reporters after reporters after visiting Wiranto at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital (RSPAD) in Central Jakarta, Thursday (10/10).

The President added that Wiranto is already conscious and will undergo a surgical procedure while asking the people to pray for Wiranto’s speedy recovery.

The President also invited the people to join hands to fight radicalism, terrorism in the country.

“We call on the public to join hands to fight radicalism and combat terrorism in our country. Together, we can eradicate terrorism and radicalism from our beloved country,” he stated.

The President also instructed Chief of Polri General Tito Karnavian to provide better security measures to state officials.

For the records, Wiranto was stabbed by suspected terrorists when he got out of the car at the Menes Square. He was immediately taken to Berkah Regional Hospital, Pandeglang, Banten before he was brought to Gatot Subroto Army Hospital (RSPAD).
