President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo ordered to properly prepare COVID-19 vaccination plan, such as the procurement, distribution, and implementation.

“Do not rush the incredibly complex processes because it will impact the society’s perception. So, I hope that the vaccine will be properly prepared, regarding public communication, especially those related to halal and haram, prices, quality, as well as the distribution process,” President Jokowi stated at a limited meeting on Anticipation of COVID-19 Spread during Long Holiday at the end of October 2020, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (19/10).

The implementation stage, the President said, is a critical point and it must also be explained to the public. “How is the process, who will receive the first injection, the reasoning, it must be properly explained to the public. Who will have it for free, who have to pay for it, it must be explained in detail,” he said.

The President also reminded the importance of technical preparation for the vaccinationincluding training for the officers involved. “I ask for WHO Indonesia’s involvement so that they can provide trainings, so that the standards become clear. Because each vaccine has to receive a specific treatment, each vaccine is different,” he said. (FID/UN)
