President Jokowi: Inter-Parliamentary Role Pivotal in Developing ASEAN Agenda

President Jokowi on Wednesday (05/10) chairs the ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara province.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday (05/10) chairs the ASEAN Leaders’ Interface With ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) at the Meruorah Komodo Hotel, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara province.

“In the long run, parliamentary role is pivotal in developing the 2045 ASEAN agenda,” the President said.

According to the President, ASEAN-AIPA leaders must ensure that ASEAN is more responsive and resilient in facing challenges so that it becomes a center of growth and peaceful, stable, and democratic region.

“We must ensure ASEAN is more responsive and resilient in facing challenges to become a center of growth, and peaceful, stable, and democratic region,” the President said.

The President also highlighted the importance of collaboration between Governments and Parliaments in order to ensure that ASEAN could be the Epicentrum of Growth.

“Collaboration between Governments and Parliaments must be strengthened to preserve and solidify political stability and democracy, and ensure that ASEAN can be the Epicentrum of Growth,” the President said.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also extended his appreciation for parliamentary support in ASEAN during the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I would like to extend my gratitude for parliamentary support in ASEAN, so that emergency policies during the pandemic were carried out swiftly, and ASEAN could pass the critical period,” the President remarked. (TGH/UN) (RI/LW)
