President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has introduced the under-renovation Manahan stadium, which becomes the new icon of the Central Java city of Solo.

The renovation is scheduled to completed in September.

“Introducing, the new icon of Solo: a modern and majestic Manahan stadium (whose renovation) is expected to be completed in September this year,” the President wrote on his Facebook page recently.

According to the President, the stadium’s tribune now accommodates 20,000 single spectator seats, decorated with Kawung batik motifs. The field of stadium is also equipped with Zoysia Japonica grass, just like that one at Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Jakarta, he added.

“The stadium also has a roofed tribune so spectators can be protected from the rain and the heat,” he said.

The Head of State also explained that the stadium uses lighting with the capacity of 1,500 lux, equipped with a large electronic score board. In the meantime, in dressing rooms for players (playing at the stadium), there are hot water pools for every team.

“Therefore, Manahan stadium is fitting to host both national and international sporting events,” the President said.

As previously reported, the construction of Manahan stadium kick-started in August 2018 with the progress already reaching 96%.

Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has set the target of the completion of the stadium’s renovation on schedule, which is in September this year. In the renovation of the stadium, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing has assigned Directorate General of Cipta Karya to continue coordination with Solo city government.
