President Jokowi Invites Dubai Alumunium to Cooperate to Manage Asahan

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) invites Dubai Aluminium (Dubal), a State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to cooperate as an investor to manage of aluminium mining in Indonesia.
“We have Asahan and we have deposits of bauxite, silica sand, nickel that we can develop as good as this,” President Jokowi said when visiting Dubai Aluminium, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Monday (14/9).
The President explained that he had talked with Dubai Aluminium, and in this two to three weeks they will soon send a team to Jakarta to decide whether cooperation with state-owned enterprises we can offer, or they want to do themselves.
According to President Jokowi, he deliberately took the decision quickly, because they do not want to be late. “As I have previously stated while in the car, we will decide it soon. Do not be too slow to decide,” said President Jokowi in his visit welcomed by the Managing Director of Dubai Aluminium, Abdullah Kalban.
Regarding to choosing Dubai Aluminium to become managing partner of aluminium in Indonesia, President Jokowi explained, because they have had over 30 years experience. In addition, the UAEs State Owned Enterprises also guarantee lower costs by 20 percent, as well as a good networking.
“I am of the opinion that if a company is efficient, it will be easy to compete with other companies with any countries,” said President Jokowi.
During his visit to the office of Dubai Aluminium, President Jokowi has the opportunity to plant a tree in the yard of the company’s office.
Accompanying President Jokowi were among others Coordinating Minister for The Economy Darmin Nasution, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said, Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Sofyan Djalil, and the Head of BKPM Franky Sibarani.
