President Jokowi Invites Women’s Organization to Raise Public Awareness on COVID-19 Prevention
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has called on the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) –the women’s organization for family welfare- to support measures for raising public awareness on health protocols during COVID-19 pandemic.
The President delivered the statement in his remarks during Limited Cabinet Meeting on COVID-19 handling and national economic recovery at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (3/8).
President Jokowi said that there was public concern regarding the increasing COVID-19 cases and public adherence to health protocols.
“As of yesterday, we have 111,000 cases with a 4.7% mortality rate. Indonesia’s mortality rate is 0.8% higher than global mortality rate,” the President said, adding that the case recovery rate in Indonesia, based on the latest data, is 61.9%.
President Jokowi also re-emphasized the importance of obeying health protocols. “In these two weeks, for example, we will focus on campaign on wearing face masks, later in the next two weeks the campaign will be about keeping a safe distance or washing hands,” the President said.
The President further said that dissemination and communication are important in improving people awareness of obeying health protocols. (FID/EN)
