President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said that the development of Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway whose groundbreaking was conducted at Mandalawangi Maswati Tea Plantation, West Bandung Regency, West Java, on Thursday (21/1) is part of a national big plan to connect big cities in Java Island and cities outside Java.

“Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway is part of our big plan to connect big cities in Java Island and out Java Island,” President Jokowi said through his Twitter account @jokowi moments ago.

“Through mastering technology and manufacture industry, we hope we can compete with other countries,” President Jokowi said.

The President also hopes the high-speed railway could bring short-term and long-term benefits. He affirmed that he will continue monitoring the project so that the people could directly feel the benefits.
