President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Tuesday (17/9) joined the people to perform a congregational Istisqa prayer (a prayer performed during drought to pray for the rain) at Amrullah Mosque in Pekanbaru, the capital of Riau province.

The prayer was specifically performed to help combat forest fires that hit most areas in the islands of Sumatera and Kalimantan.

“God willing, the rain will fall. Hopefully Allah will grant our wish soon, to help us combat haze and smoke in the fires affected regions,” preacher Dr. H.M. Fakhri said. (UN/RSF/RAH/OJI/ES)
