President Jokowi Kicks Off E. Asia State Visit

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (07/25) kicked off the series of state visits to People’s Republic of China (PRC), Japan, and Republic of Korea.

The President and his entourage took off from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang city, Banten province onboard Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft at around 14.00 Western Indonesian time. The aircraft which bounds for Beijing will land at Beijing Capital International Airport, PRC, on the evening.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi in her statement said that the three East Asian countries are strategic partners in the economic sector for Indonesia, the ASEAN, and the G20.

She went on to say that President Jokowi will meet with the heads of state of these countries to discuss various issues including global issues and cooperation in a number of sectors.

“A number of issues will be discussed with the three heads of state, such as on trade, investment, health, infrastructure, fisheries, as well as international and regional issues,” she said.

For the record, President Jokowi is accompanied by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo and a number of ministers during this visit. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RAS/MMB)
