President Jokowi Kicks Off E. Java Working Visit
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday (27/1) departed for East Java province for a working visit.
The President and his entourage boarded the Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft at around 08.15 Western Indonesian Time and landed at Juanda International Airport, Sidoarjo Regency.
Upon arrival, the President is scheduled to inspect the KRI Alugoro-405 submarine manufactured by state-owned shipbuilder PT. PAL (Penataran Angkatan Laut) in Surabaya.
For the record, the Alugoro submarine is the third submarine in the first batch of submarine development cooperation between PT PAL and South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME).
The success of the submarine development makes Indonesia the only country in Southeast Asia capable of building submarines.
During the visit this time, President Jokowi is also scheduled to inspect the KRI Cakra-401 submarine overhaul panel at a hangar for submarine production facilities and to chair a limited meeting on policy for the development of primary weaponry defense system (alutsista).
Before returning to Jakarta, the President is also slated to inaugurate multipurpose building Wahana Ekspresi Poesponegoro, Gresik Regency and to hand over land certificates to the residents in East Java province. (EN)
