President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday (11/08) officially opened the 2023 National Coordination Meeting of Election Organizers in Jakarta.

“I would like to express my gratitude to all election organizers for doing your best to organize the 2024 Elections. I applaud the DKPP [Honorary Council of Election Organizers], the Bawaslu [General Election Supervisory Body], and the KPU [General Election Commission] for the measures,” the President said.

The President also stated that the 2024 simultaneous elections would be the largest democratic event in the country, involving approximately 840,000 polling stations (TPS). According to the President, there are some challenges in organizing the elections, including maintaining accountability and integrity of the elections, as well as challenges in distribution and security measures.

“We must also maintain fair and peaceful competition, without hoax and hate speech, so that the competition will bring solutions to the problems of our nation. The process should be legitimate and trustworthy,” the President said.

On that occasion, the President reminded all election organizers to prepare everything in detail and carry out supervision on the ground. (FID/UN) (RI/MMB)
