President Jokowi Laments Slow Progress of PLTSa Development
President Joko Jokowi Widodo has strongly criticized the slow progress of waste-based power plant (PLTSa) development.
According to the President, the issue of PLTSa development has been raised six times in the (previous) limited meetings, even when he was still (Solo) mayor and (Jakarta) governor. Yet, no progress has been made, he said.
To date, I have not heard of any progress that has been made, the President said before a limited meeting on the PLTSa Construction Progress at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/7).
The President expressed hope that the Tuesday limited meeting will come up with a solution to the problem.
According to the President, several issues hamper the development of PLTSa, including ongoing administrative matters in state-owned electricity company PT PLN and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
For the record, President Jokowi has signed Presidential Regulation Number 35 of 2018 on the Accelerated Development of Waste-based Power Plants based on Environmentally Friendly Technology. As many as 12 PLTSa are expected to be completed in 2022 and produce a total capacity of 234 MW. (FID/JAY/ES)
