President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (07/20) inspected stunting reduction campaign at Srikuncoro Community Health Center in Central Bengkulu regency, Bengkulu province.
“I am glad that Bengkulu province has an excellent [stunting] reduction rate from 22 [percent] to 18 [percent], meaning that [the rate] in the province is below the national average,” he said in his press statement after the inspection.
“We hope in 2024, [the stunting rate] can be below 14 [percent],” he said.
The President also expressed appreciation for the Community Health Center’s innovation to reduce stunting rate by making food from eels and cassavas for nutritional intake.
“It is good that [the center] gives [food with] high protein content. Eel nuggets are great. I think it is great. I suppose innovations in the regions such as the one we saw are good in accelerating stunting reduction in all provinces, regencies, and cities,” he said.
On that occasion, the Head of State also urged all regions to redouble efforts to provide good nutritional intake for the public to reduce stunting by involving multiple parties, including public and private sectors.
“I noticed that that not many people [here] suffer from stunting and they continue to be provided with good nutritional boost, and I want all provinces to follow suit,” he remarked. (BPMI SETPRES/AIT) (DH/EP)
