President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed appreciation to the Japan-Indonesia Association (JAPINDA) for its many contributions to promoting economic cooperation in Japan.

“I’d like to extend my appreciation to JAPINDA, which has greatly helped promote economic cooperation, has been mentoring Japanese companies that want to expand their businesses in Indonesia,” the President said during the meeting with the President of JAPINDA at the Imperial Hotel, Tokyo, on Monday (12/18).

The President also expressed hope that JAPINDA can continue to support increased investment and technology transfer in future economic sectors such as energy transition and the digital economy. Not only that, JAPINDA’s support is also expected to contribute to the improvement of human resources quality in the country.

“It is so that more Indonesian skilled workers can enter Japan,” the President said.

The President also said that business players in Japan can also take advantage of various new agreements within the framework of the IJEPA (the Indonesia-Japan Partnership Agreement), such as the removal of tariffs on Indonesian processed fish products and the expansion of access to the banking market.

“I believe with the concrete support from JAPINDA, the comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and Japan will be even stronger and more sustainable,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (FI/MMB)
