President Jokowi Leads Defense Ministry’s Parade Senja Ceremony
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Monday (10/09), led the Parade Senja (dusk parade) and National Flag Lowering Ceremony at Bela Negara Field at the office of Ministry of Defense in Jakarta on.
This ceremony was held to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) that falls on October 5.
President Jokowi arrived at around 18.00 western Indonesian time and was welcomed by the Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto.
The ceremony began with the ceremony commander’s report to the President as the ceremony inspector.
The President then led the participants to observe a moment of silence to pay respect to the nation’s fallen heroes.
“To commemorate the services of the nation’s heroes, let us observe a moment of silence,” he said.
Afterward, the national flag was lowered as the national anthem Indonesia Raya was played, followed by the singing of the TNI’s official march Andhika Bhayangkari.
The ceremony ended with a report from ceremony commander to the ceremony inspector.
After the ceremony, the President along with the other invited guests watched the troops parade.
Also attending the event were the Sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the Sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno, Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo, Army Chief of Staff General Dudung Abdurachman, and Naval Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali. (FID/UN) (RKW/DH)
