President Jokowi Leads Pancasila Sanctity Day Ceremony
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Sunday (1/10) led a ceremony to commemorate Pancasila Sanctity Day at Pancasila Sanctity Monument in Lubang Buaya, East Jakarta.
The ceremony began by the singing of Indonesia’s national anthem “Indonesia Raya”. Afterwards, the Ceremony Commander delivered a report to President Jokowi as the Inspector of the Ceremony. The President then led the participants to observe a moment of silence to commemorate the services of the fallen heroes of the nation.
Afterward, Speaker of the Regional House of Representatives (DPD) La Nyalla Mattalitti read the Pancasila manuscript, followed by the reading of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia by Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Bambang Soesatyo.
Meanwhile, Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani also read and signed the Pledge manuscript.
The following is the pledge read and signed by Speaker of the DPR:
“By the grace of God Almighty, we who carry out this ceremony are fully aware that since the proclamation of the independence of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 1945, in reality, there have been many disturbances both from within the country and abroad to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia; that the disturbances were made possible by the carelessness and lack of vigilance of the Indonesian people towards activities that seek to overthrow Pancasila as the state ideology; that with the spirit of togetherness based on the noble values of the Pancasila ideology, the Indonesian nation can still safeguard the establishment of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. So, before the God Almighty, in commemorating Pancasila Sanctity Day, we are determined to continuously maintain and practice the values of Pancasila as a source of strength, to unite together to fight for and uphold truth and justice for the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.”
After the reading of the pledge, Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas recited the prayer to close the event.
After the ceremony, President Jokowi and the entourage briefly visited the well in Lubang Buaya Memorial Complex before leaving the location.
Previously, President Jokowi in his official Twitter account said that the Pancasila ideology is Indonesia national foundation to overcome global challenges such as climate change, food crisis, energy crisis, economic recession, and technology disruption.
“Amidst those challenges and situation, Indonesia will continue to move forward in togetherness. We will go through easy and hard times together. No matter how hard the challenges and obstacles are, we will overcome it together with Pancasila ideology as our foundation, to realize an advanced Indonesia,” he said. (FID/UN) (RAS/EP)
