President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo acted as the ceremony inspector during the commemoration ceremony of Pancasila Sanctity Day held at the Pancasila Sakti Monument at Lubang Buaya in East Jakarta on Thursday (1/10).

For the record, the ceremony was carried out by implementing health protocols for COVID-19 prevention, such as maintaining a safe distance and wearing face masks.

The ceremony began with a report by Ceremony Commander Colonel Kal Eri Ahmad Harahap to the Ceremony Inspector President Jokowi. Afterward, the Inspector led the participants in a moment of silence to recall the services of Indonesian patriots.

After this process, Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Bambang Soesatyo read the text of Indonesian ideology of Pancasila. Meanwhile, the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia was read by Speaker of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) La Nyala Mattalitti.

Then, Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani read and signed the script of a pledge while Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy led a prayer which closed the series of events.

After the ceremony, the President together with Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and heads of the state high institutions who were present at the location briefly visited the Pancasila Sakti Monument before leaving the location.

The following pledge was read and signed by Puan:

“By the grace of God Almighty, we, who attend this ceremony, are fully aware that since the proclamation of the independence on 17 August 1945, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia has in fact encountered various interferences, be it from within and outside the country. Those interferences were made possible due to negligence, lack of vigilance of the Indonesian people towards activities that seek to overthrow Pancasila as the state ideology. Whereas with the spirit of togetherness which is based on the noble values of the Pancasila ideology, the Indonesian nation can still strengthen the establishment of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. So, in the presence of God Almighty, in commemorating the Sanctity of Pancasila, we are determined to maintain and practice the values of Pancasila as a source of strength, rally together to fight and uphold truth and justice for the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.”

Those attending the ceremony were Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Anwar Makarim, the Indonesian National Defense Forces Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and the National Police Chief Idham Azis.

In addition, the ceremony was also attended virtually by ministers, heads of state institutions/central agencies, regional heads/regional leadership coordination forums (Forkompimda), heads of regional institutions as well as families of revolutionary heroes. (TGH/UN)
