President Jokowi Listens to Complaints from Shallot Farmers in C. Java

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (12/14) held a dialogue with shallot farmers in Bansari village, Bansari district, Temanggung regency, Central Java province, after planting shallots with them.

On the occasion, the President received complaints from farmers who were reluctant to plant garlic because garlic imports during harvest time making its price drop.

In response, the President immediately called Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi. ” Mr. Minister, I am with farmers in Temanggung. All of them have the same complaints. During garlic harvest time, the imported garlic came in. Their complaints are always the same,” he said.

Responding to the complaint, the Minister will dispatch a team to check. “I will send a team to check, sir,” he said.

Also accompanying the President during the dialogue were Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, and Temanggung Regent Muhammad Al Khadziq.
