President Jokowi Listens to Complaints of Fishers in Bangka Belitung Province

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Thursday (10/20), had a dialogue with fishers of West Bangka regency at Tanjung Laut Fishers’ Village in the regency, Bangka Belitung province.

During the dialogue, Sakijan, the head of fishers, stated their complaints regarding the need for fishing boat engines.

“I hope you can make an impact on our lives by providing engines because most engines are not ours, we only borrow them,” he said, adding that approximately 30-40 fishers have no engine for their fishing boats.

As a response, the President said that boat engines for the fishers will be handed to Koperasi Berkah Bersama Ibu, a local cooperative.

Joining the President during the visit were Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Interim Governor of Bangka Belitung Ridwan Djamaluddin, and Regent of West Bangka Sukirman. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (DH/ MMB)
