President Jokowi, Malaysian PM to Hold Bilateral Meeting in Bogor

Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad began his two-day state visit to Indonesia. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana, personally welcomed the arrival of the Malaysian Prime Minister and his spouse Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, on Thursday evening (28/6).
President Jokowi and PM Mahathir Mohamad then headed straight to the VIP room of Sasana Manggala Praja of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport for a moment before leaving the airport. The two leaders will continue their meeting at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Friday (29/6).
For the record, Mahathir Mohamad, who came out of retirement to led opposition alliance won against the Barisan Nasional coalition which has been in power for more than six decades, was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Malaysia on 10 May 2018 and became the oldest prime minister in the world at age 92.
Indonesia is considered one of Malaysias closest friends and most important neighbors. In 2017, Indonesia became Malaysias seventh-largest trading partner globally and third-largest trading partner among ASEAN member countries after Singapore and Thailand.
Also present on the occasion were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Tito Karnavian, Governor of Jakarta Anis Baswedan and Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Rusdi Kirana.
