President Jokowi Meets Agus Yudhoyono

Agus-Kaesang-300x234President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo wishes Indonesian young generations to prepare themselves so they will be ready to compete and face future challenges and to play an active role to advance the nation.

This wish extended by President Jokowi accompanied by his first son Gibran Rakabuming, received Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the first son of the sixth President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, at the Presidential Palace’s Complex, Jakarta, Thursday (10/8) afternoon.

“On the meeting, the President told me that the world changes rapidly so young generations are expected to take part in the efforts to make the country more advance, to respond the changes, and to adapt quickly,” Agus told the journalists after the meeting.

Gibran Rakabuming also joined the press conference. He admitted that he wants to meet Agus personally.“It was spontaneous. There was a special guest, Mas Agus. I always want to meet him and my father permitted to join the meeting,” Gibran said.

On that meeting, Gibran prepared his special dish bubur lemu (rice porridge served with boiled egg, chicken, tofu, and sambal krecek) as well as gudeg (traditional Javanese cuisine made from young unripe jackfruit boiled with palm sugar and coconut milk) for lunch.

“It is very delicious. Thank you, Mas Gibran. It is my first time ate porridge with gudeg. I wish you success in your business. I will take my friends to your place,” Agus responded when Gibran asked for his opinion about his dishes.

 

To Invite

According to Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, he came to invite President Jokowi to the inauguration of The Yudhoyono Institute, to be held in Djakarta Theater, Jakarta, Thursday (10/8) evening.

“I came to request for the President’s approvaland to get advices or inputs that I can use as guidelines to make the Institute successful,” Agus, the Executive Director of the Institute, said.

The President warmly welcomed the inauguration of the Institute and hopes that there will be new thoughts that can motivate young generations to be the future leaders of Indonesia. The President specially support Agus to drive the Institute.“The President has a big dream for young generations. The points are to build excellent human resources because the competition is tighter. If we unite as a nation, we can prepare ourselves to be ready to compete with anyone from other countries,” Agus said.

Gibran also shared the same opinion that young generations must be ready to compete and adapt with the demands of the day.

At the end of the press conference, Agus also conveyed regards from the sixth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), to President Jokowi. He wished that today’s discussion can be continued in the future. “Pak SBY is happy hearing me met the President. He also conveyed his regards to the President as well as his family, and wished him success and to be always healthy in leading this country as well as the government,” Agus concluded.

Meanwhile, when journalists met the President after receiving the Committee of Jamaiyah Moslem Batak Indonesia in the afternoon at the Merdeka Palace, President Jokowi said that Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono came to invite him to attend the inauguration of The Yudhoyono Institute.
