President Jokowi Meets FIFA President at Bangkok

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, accompanied by several Cabinet Ministers, holds a meeting with the President of the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand, Saturday (2/11).

The Indonesian Cabinet Ministers who accompanied the President in the meeting were, among others, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, and Minister of Trade Agus Suparmanto.

Previously, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has called Secretary General of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Ratu Tisha Destria to express optimism about the future of Indonesian football under M. Iriawan, the newly-elected PSSI Chairman for 2019-2023 period.

The election of Iriawan was held during the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) of PSSI, at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, Saturday (2/11).

“I congratulate you and I have great hope under your leadership Indonesian football will rise,” Gianni said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.

Gianni also said that he would soon visit Indonesia and meet face to face with the new PSSI Chairman. (SLN/RAH/ES)
