President Jokowi Meets Heads of Government Insitutions

President Joko Widodo(Jokowi) had an amicable gathering with heads of government instutitions at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/3). In the meeting, that started at 11.15 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, the President asked inputs to solve a number of problems, including the problem of economic gap.

“I will continue to enhance good relations with the heads of government institutions in order to send messages to the people that unity and togetherness are important in facing difficult challenges at national and global levels, uncertain condition, as well as future challenges,” the President said in his introductory remarks.

The President also explained about Indonesia’s economic condition, inflation, and comparation with other countries. Although Indonesia’s economy raised from 4.88 percent to 5.02 percent in 2016, it needs to be improved.

According to President Jokowi, a difficult challenge that must be faced by Indonesia at the moment is the problem of disparity. Therefore, the President asked inputs from the heads of insititutions attending the meeting.

The amicable gathering was attended by the Speaker of People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan and his deputy speakers, the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Setya Novanto and his deputy speakers, the Speaker of Regional Representatives Council (DPD) Mohammad Saleh and his deputy speakers, Head of Constitutional Court (MK) Arief Hidayat, Head of Supreme Court (MA) Hatta Ali, Head of Judicial Commission (KY) Aidul Fitriciada Azhari, and Head of Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) Harry Azhar Azis.

In the meantime, President Jokowi was accompanied by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Minister of State Secretary Pratikno.
