President Jokowi Meets Indonesian Rap Star Rich Brian

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo accompanied by a number of high-ranking officials received an Indonesian rap star who has spent most of his professional career in the United States, Rich Brian, at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Sunday (7/7).

Brian Imanuel Soewarno known professionally as Rich Brian was born in Jakarta on 3 September 1999. He was featured on Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list 2018 which appreciated young changemakers all over the world for their achievements and influences.

After the meeting, Brian told reporters that he and the President discussed music and his next album. “This is my first time in the Palace, and also my first time meeting with Pak Jokowi and Pak Triawan (Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf), red),” Brian said.

He added that President Jokowi expressed hope that in the future there will be more young Indonesians who can have international career as Brian does.

“I hope those kids who listen to my music can realize their dreams,” Brian said adding that his next album will be inspired by his Indonesian roots. (AGG/OJI/ES)
