President Jokowi Meets King of Eswatini
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (08/24) received a courtesy call from King of Eswatini King Mswati III at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. On the occasion, President Jokowi and King Mswati III discussed measures to enhance cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic sector.
After accompanying President Jokowi at the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi explained that since the last bilateral meeting between the President and the King in 2019, there has been an Indonesian company opening a business in Eswatini that focuses on spa and wellness.
According to the Minister, it was the beginning of the establishment of other partnerships.
Retno also said that Eswatini plans to import Indonesia’s cosmetic products for its spa and wellness industry.
Moreover, President Jokowi and King Mswati III also discussed how private enterprises and state-owned enterprises of both countries can collaborate. The two countries have a plan to ink an MoU to strengthen bilateral partnerships in economic, infrastructure, tourism, energy, as well as health sectors.
“We, two foreign ministers, are urged to prepare the documents needed,” Retno conclusively remarked.
For the record, the visit of King Mswati II to Indonesia is not the first visit. Previously, the King had visited Indonesia in 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2015, and 2019. (BPMI SETPRES/UN) (AP/HD/MMB)
