President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (01/30) received a visit from the Central Executive Board of Pemuda Muhammadiyah, the youth wing of Muslim organization Muhammadiyah.

Chairperson of the Central Executive Board of Pemuda Muhammadiyah Sunanto stated that the purpose of the visit was to invite the President to the Congress of Pemuda Muhammadiyah in Balikpapan city, East Kalimantan province, which will be held on February 21-24, 2023.

“God willing, the President said that he will attend and we thank him for it, hopefully, there will be no obstacles,” Sunanto said after the visit.

Sunanto also explained that Balikpapan was chosen for the Congress because the organization wants to show its support and commitment to the development of New Capital of Nusantara (IKN). Pemuda Muhammadiyah also stated that the invitees can also directly see the construction of the new capital.

“[We] want to show that this is a hope and aspiration that we must support. Not only because this is the President’s policy, but there is an enormous hope,” he said.

According to Sunanto, the Central Executive Board would continue to encourage and support the development of IKN. However, the organization hopes that the development will be a sustainable one.

Adopting a theme “Harmony of Youth Statesmen for Advancing the Nation”, Sunanto expressed hope that the President’s attendance will add motivation and harmony to the cadres.

On the occasion, he revealed several agendas of the Congress including Tanwir meeting, opening ceremony, accountability report meeting, gala dinner, election of leaders, and MSMEs exhibitions. Sunanto stated that the IKN gala dinner is also aimed to break record of the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI). (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (FI/MMB)
