President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will summon Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms to determine the status of Non-Tenured Farmer Facilitators (THL TBPP) who have worked for about 13 years.

“I think the experience (of the facilitators) is very important to assist farmers in order to improve our agricultural productivity,” President Jokowi told the journalists after attending the meeting with Non-Tenured Farmer Facilitators in Semarang, Central Java, Sunday (3/2).

For the record, there are about 17,000 Non-Tenured Farmer Facilitators who have not been appointed as Civil Servants (PNS) or State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

The President said that legal analysis is needed to make sure that the policy on the Farmer Facilitators will comply with the provisions of law. He added that farmer facilitators are very important, and the Government needs 40,000 more of them.

President Jokowi explained that the appointment of the Farmer Facilitators requires a legal base such as Presidential Regulation or Presidential Decree. He went on to say that if the law allows, he will issue a Presidential Regulation on this matter

Accompanying President Jokowi on the event were Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo. (DNS/OJI/ES)
