President Jokowi Meets Persons with Disabilities at Merdeka Palace

Photo by: BPMI of Presidential Secretariat.The Indonesian Association of Persons with Disabilities (PPDI) on Monday (09/30) met with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

Alhamdulillah, we had a good conversation with President Jokowi regarding persons with disabilities in Indonesia,” the Chairperson of the PPDI Norman Yulian said after the meeting.

Norman said that they also discussed the implementation of Law Number 8 of 2016 on Persons with Disabilities.

Regarding the issue of employment, Norman highlighted the quota for workers with disabilities in the Government and private sectors stipulated in Law Number 8 of 2016. Ministries and regional heads, he added, should optimize the implementation of the specific quota for workers with disabilities.

According to Norman, President Jokowi also expressed hope that the PPDI work hand in hand with other organizations and the upcoming administration to promote inclusiveness in Indonesia.

Norman also expressed hope that the implementation of Law Number 8 of 2016 will be strengthened to protect rights of person with disabilities in Indonesia.
