President Jokowi Meets PM of Saudi Arabia at Al-Yamamah Palace
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (10/18) met with Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman al-Saud at Al-Yamamah Palace, Riyadh.
The President’s trip to the palace was accompanied by Minister of Commerce and Investment of Saudi Arabia Majid bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi.
Arrived at around 14.00 local time, the President was officially welcomed by the PM of Saudi Arabia at the front yard of the Palace. The welcoming procession started with the playing of the national anthems of both countries.
Afterwards, both leaders walked into the Palace lobby to introduce the delegates from each country and then held a bilateral meeting at the meeting room. President Jokowi also attended the banquet presented by the Prime Minister.
The meeting ended with the signing of several Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Saudi Arabia, witnessed by President Jokowi and the PM of Saudi Arabia. The signed MoUs were the establishment of the Supreme Coordination Council between the Republic of Indonesia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; technical cooperation between the National Standardization Agency (BSN) and the Organization of Standard, Metrology and Quality Organization of Saudi Arabia; cooperation on youth and sports; and cooperation on halal product assurance.
Indonesian delegates participating at the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdul Aziz Ahmad, and Director General of Asia Pacific and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdul Kadir Jailani.
Participants from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were Minister of Defense Khalid bin Salman al-Saud, Minister of Sports Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud, Minister of Culture Badr bin Farhan al-Saud, Minister of Finance Muhammad Abdullah Al-Jaddan, and Minister of Investment Khalid Abdulaziz Al-Falih.
