President Jokowi Meets President MBZ at Al Shati Palace

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (07/01) had a bilateral meeting with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Al Nahyan (MBZ) at Al Shati Palace, Abu Dhabi.

Upon his arrival at the palace at 01.30 p.m. local time, President Jokowi and the UAE President immediately have a group photo session followed by a tête-à-tête meeting.

In his introductory remarks, the President expressed appreciation to President MBZ for the friendly relationship between the two countries that continues to improve amid the current challenging situation.

“I thank you for accepting us. Amidst challenging situations like today, we continue to work together to improve relations between our two countries,” President Jokowi added.

The two leaders also exchanged MoU documents for cooperation in the sectors of trade, climate change, health, maritime and fisheries, defense, education, and ports.

Also accompanying the President during the visit were Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno L.P. Marsudi, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Chairperson of the Authority of the capital of Nusantara (IKN) Bambang Susantono, Chairperson of the Indonesian Investment Authority Ridha Wirakusumah, and Indonesian Ambassador to UAE Husin Bagis. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/UN) (GWH/MUR)
