President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (09/22) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, met with delegation of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi).

President Jokowi, accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, received a report related to the preparation of the upcoming Hipmi National Conference and election of the chairperson of the organization.

“We had a meeting with the President. He is senior to us in Hipmi. The President ordered us to introduce chairperson candidates. We have three chairperson candidates, namely Anggawira, Akbar Buchari, and Bagas Adhadirga,” Chairperson of the Steering Committee of the Hipmi National Conference Dedi Indra Permana said after the meeting.

Dedi said that the upcoming National Conference would be held in December this year. According to Dedi, President Jokowi said that he would attend the National Conference.

“The President said that the candidates must be ready to address the existing challenges. The Steering Committee will make preparations for the Conference and maintain the impartiality,” he added.

For the record, the three candidates who have passed the verification process were Head of Finance and Banking Division of Hipmi Anggawira, Deputy Chairperson of Hipmi Akbar Himawan Buchari, and Secretary General of Hipmi Bagas Adhadirgha. According to Dede, the three of them are Hipmi’s best cadres.

The chairperson candidates will deliver a public lecture and explain their visions for Indonesia economy in the future. Dede expressed hope that the elected chairperson would be able to support the Government in addressing various economic challenges.

“Surely the chairperson candidates should support the Government to address economic challenges amid the economic downturn at the global level. The candidates should support the measures to spur economic growth in Indonesia,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RI/LW)
