President Jokowi Meets with Italian Prime Minister to Discuss Cooperation, Investment Opportunities

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Sunday (09/10) held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni on the margin of the G20 Summit at the Bharat Mandapam (IECC Complex) in New Delhi, India.

The two leaders discussed about cooperation and investment opportunities between the two countries.

In the investment sector, President Jokowi welcomed the increase in investment by Italy in Indonesia including the inauguration of the two-wheel motor vehicles manufacturer Piaggio factory in the country last year.

The President also expressed his appreciation for Italy’s commitment to the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) scheme, while expressing hope that the commitment can be realized in the near future.

“It is my hope that the commitment will be implemented soon considering that support for funding mobilization is an essential element of the energy transition,” he added.

In addition, the Head of State called on the Italian Government to participate in the development of the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, green infrastructure, and Nusantara capital in Indonesia.

Furthermore, President Jokowi asked Prime Minister Meloni for her support for Indonesia’s membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (AP/MUR)
