President Jokowi Meets With Papuan Students

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (07/07) met with Papuan students at Swiss-Belhotel, Jayapura city, Papua province.

On that occasion, President Jokowi gave a math quiz with bicycles as prizes.

“I want to test the children’s ability to do math. Professor Yohanes will be the judge. I can see that the children are very smart,” the President said, adding that he will send any student who can answer the quiz a bicycle.

The students appeared very enthusiastic to answer the quiz. President Jokowi then gave several calculation questions which the students can answer rather quickly.

According to Professor Yohanes Surya, these children previously could not count. However, after joining the program of learning to count with the “Gasing” (easy, fun, enjoyable) method initiated by the Professor, the children’s ability to count has improved significantly.

“So these children were actually trained for two weeks. Previously, they were not able to count but in two weeks, they could already count,” the Professor said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (FI/EP)
