President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday (05/22) met with retired personnel of the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

“We had a conversation with the President regarding the effort to improve the welfare of retired TNI and Polri personnel. We will submit recommendation related to the take home pay,” Chairperson of the Association of Retired Personnel and Warakawuri of the TNI-Polri (PEPABRI) Agum Gumelar said after the meeting.

According to Agum, President Jokowi also talked about the development of the global situation. Agum Gumelar expressed his optimism regarding what Indonesia had achieved as a nation.

Agum also expressed his appreciation for the policies that had been made by the Government in maintaining stability of the national economy, including the industrial downstreaming policy.

Agum further said that retired TNI and Polri would support the 2024 elections so that the elections could run smoothly. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RI/MUR)
