President Jokowi: Mentarang Induk Hydropower Plant Reflects Good Relations between Indonesia, Malaysia
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (03/01) led the groundbreaking ceremony of Mentarang Induk Hydropower Plant in Malinau regency, North Kalimantan province.
The hydropower plant is built by PT Kayan Hydropower Nusantara, a joint venture between Indonesia’s Kayan Patria Pratama (KPP) Group and Malaysia’s Sarawak Energy.
“Today, I am delighted that the construction of Mentarang Induk Hydropower Plant has begun, and I am even happier that the project is carried out by an Indonesia-Malaysia consortium. It shows that we, as brothers of the same roots, can well cooperate,” the President added.
On that occasion, the Head of State expressed his gratitude to all elements of society including traditional leaders, religious leaders, especially people from the Dayak ethnic groups for supporting the development of the project.
“It is our hope that the project brings great benefit for all of us,” President Jokowi added.
Furthermore, the President also expressed his hope that the development of the project can be finished in seven years. (TGH/UN) (AP/RAS/MMB)
