Mentawir Nursery is a manifestation of the Government’s commitment to the environment, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“The point is we want to improve the environment, to rehabilitate forests, including natural forests, degraded tropical rain forests, and mangrove forests that need to be restored. We will restore everything,” he said during the inspection of Mentawir Nursery in North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province on Thursday (09/21).

Moreover, President Jokowi explained that the nursery, along with land restoration and post-mining reclamation, is the first step taken by the Government to improve the environment while pointing out that there is a Regulation of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) that requires every mining company in Indonesia to have a nursery center.

“It demonstrates our resolute commitment to carrying out restoration and rehabilitation,” he said.

The President also stated that the greening in Nusantara Capital (IKN) will be put into action as soon as possible, depending on the precipitation in IKN, adding that as soon as the first rain falls, millions of seeds will be ready to be planted there.
