President Jokowi: Mentawir Nursery to Make IKN Green

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (09/21) inspected the Mentawir nursery, which is located near the new Capital City of Nusantara (IKN) core area, in North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province.

The President noticed that the progress of the nursery is almost 100 percent, while underscoring that the nursery is estimated to produce 15 million seeds per year.

“The Mentawir nursery is a nursery that we have prepared for making the Nusantara Capital and its surroundings green,” President Jokowi said in his statement.

On that occasion, the Head of State also said that the next step in preserving the environment in the IKN through the nursery is to prepare for the on-site planting management to restore the forests in the IKN to become a tropical rainforest.

Furthermore, the President also emphasized the importance of ensuring that the prepared seedlings to be planted in the IKN area will grow successfully. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (AP/MUR)
