President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has announced that he has appointed Perry Warjiyo as candidate for Governor of central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) for the period of 2023 – 2028.

The President made the statement at the site of the Presidential Palace’s construction in Nusantara Capital (IKN) in Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province, Thursday (02/23).

“We have submitted the name of Perry Warjiyo as the candidate for Governor of BI to the House of Representatives (DPR),” President Jokowi told journalists.

According to the President, one of the reasons for appointing Perry Warjiyo as the candidate for Governor of BI is the uncertain global situation.

“In this current global situation, we do not want to take risks. Fiscal and monetary issues are crucial,” he said.

Therefore, the President said he considered Perry Warjiyo as the right candidate to assume the position of the Governor due to his vast experience that will be useful for the position. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of Presidential Secretariat/AIT)(FKH/AW/EP)
