President Jokowi: No Tolerance for Acts of Terror
President Joko Jokowi Widodo on Tuesday morning (5/7) at Grand Inna Muara Hotel in Padang, West Sumatera, delivered a press statement on the recent bomb attacks in Solo, Central Java, and in Saudi Arabia.
This morning, I received reports on suicide bomb attacks at the Headquarter of a resort police in Solo. I have called related sides and the apparatus has already taken control of the situation, the President said.
The President also urged the people to stay calm but vigilant, especially ahead of the Eid El Fitr Day.
I have instructed Chief of the Indonesian National Police to pursue and arrest the (terrorist) networks and investigate the suicide bomb attack in Solo, the President said.
The people are also urged to stay calm when fasting on the last day of Ramadan and not to be afraid of those acts of terror.
President Jokowi also said that bomb attacks hit many countries such as Turkey, Bangladesh, Iraq, and the latest one Saudi Arabia, in Nabawi Mosque to be exact.
Once again, acts of terror cannot be justified and we must condemn it. There is no tolerance for these kinds of acts, especially if it happens in Nabawi Mosque, the President said.
On behalf of the Indonesian people, President Jokowi also expressed deep condolences for the victims, their families, and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
I received the report (on the bomb attacks in Medina) early in the morning and it was not detailed yet, the President said.
During the press conference, the President was accompanied by Speaker of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD RI) Irman Gusman, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimoeljono, and Governor of West Sumatera Irwan Prayitno.
