President Jokowi: Number of Specialist Doctors Must be Increased
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (03/06) said that the number of specialist doctors must be increased in order to improve health services in Indonesia.
The statement was made by the President while delivering his remarks at the Inauguration of the Mayapada Hospital in Bandung city, West Java province.
“We do have problems. There is still specialist doctor shortage, as well as subspecialist doctor shortage in Indonesia. I have ordered Health Minister to solve this problem,” President Jokowi stated.
In addition to the number of specialist and subspecialist doctors, the Head of State went on to say that adequate medical equipment and good physical facilities are also keys to providing better health services.
On that occasion, President Jokowi encouraged Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim to increase the number of specialist doctors by facilitating the education.
“I will appeal to the Minister that the education of specialist doctors must be facilitated,” the President added.
Echoing the same sentiment, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin further said that the Government will continue to create more qualified specialist doctors, while underscoring that the Ministry will collaborate with Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to resolve field constraints.
