President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Tuesday (11/07) observed learning and teaching activities at State vocational high school (SMKN) 1 Purwakarta, Purwakarta regency, West Java province.

During the visit, the President lauded the school for having excellent facilities.

“In my opinion, the facilities are superb compared to those of other vocational high schools (SMK). In mechanical engineering class, I noted that they have good layout arrangement, clean workshop, and proper procedure in operating machineries,” he said after the inspection.

According to him, the workshop class has facilities that match the needs of conventional automotive vehicle. Nevertheless, he said that he will provide additional machines and electric vehicles to the school so that the students can learn about automotive technology development.

“Students can learn about the development of technology. We should not let SMK still use old vehicle, combustion vehicle. They should use electric vehicle instead. So, I will send CNC milling [machine], electric car, and electric bike tomorrow. I will do it so that students can observe them,” he said. (FID/UN) (RAS/MUR)
