President Jokowi Officially Closes 11th ASEAN Para Games 2022

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Saturday (08/06) officially closed the 11th ASEAN Para Games 2022 which has been taking place since July 30, 2022.

“By offering our gratitude to Allah, alhamdulillahirabbilalamin, I hereby close the 11th ASEAN Para Games tonight,” President Jokowi said at Manahan Stadium, Surakarta city, Central Java province.

The President also expressed pride that Indonesia has succeeded in hosting the ASEAN Para Games.

“I extend my appreciation to 1,248 athletes from ASEAN countries for the participation. Thank you for showing that limitations and difficulties are not obstacles. With commitment and hard work, people with disabilities are able to score a million achievements,” President Jokowi said, adding that he also expressed gratitude to all parties who made the event a success.

According to the Head of State, solidarity among ASEAN nations shown by the athletes will be a great strength for ASEAN and for persons with disabilities and he reaffirmed the commitment to continue to support every initiative of persons with disabilities.

“On behalf of the Indonesian people, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Deputy Chairperson of the Cambodian National Paralympic Committee Mr. Hun Many, who attended this event and is ready to be the host next year. Let us make the next 12th ASEAN Para Games a success in Cambodia,” he remarked. (FID/UN) (GWH/MUR)
