President Jokowi Officially Closes 16th National Paralympic Week

The National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) is a competition for athletes with disabilities to show that disability is not an obstacle. With persistence and hard work all difficulties can be overcome and they manage to reach their goals.

The statement was made by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo during the closing ceremony of the 16th National Paralympic Week of 2021 at Mandala Stadium in Jayapura city, on Saturday (13/11).

“I would like to congratulate all athletes, especially Papuan athletes who have shown their achievements. We can conclude that we not only can do it, but we are also great!” the President said.

President Jokowi further said that the National Sports Week (PON) and the National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) represent the remarkable awakening of national sports.

“[By organizing the Peparnas] we also celebrate diversity, respect equality, and together we make achievements for the interest of the nation and state,” he added.

Furthermore, the Head of State expressed his gratitude to all people involved who have made the 16th National Paralympic Week of 2021 in Papua a success.

“I would like to thank you for the hard work of all people who have made the 16th Peparnas a success. I reiterate that not only we can do it (torang bisa), but also we can show that we are great (torang hebat). Once again, we are great!,” he remarked. (TGH/UN) (AP/EP)
